The Porsche Boxster embraces everything we
love about cars. Nothing beats the feeling of open air motoring in a high
performance roadster. From its razor sharp handling to its sexy lines, the
Porsche is pure enjoyment. aFe is no stranger to the high performance German
market and has designed a simple yet effective intake system for the Porsche
Boxster/Boxster S. The 55-10720 SUPER Stock Intake System increased
horsepower by 14hp and 10 ft-lbs of torque, turning the already fast Porsche into a
screaming rocket. Project leader, Eric Bajza, was in charge of the
project. Here is how Eric and the aFe team accomplished this amazing feat.
Our test vehicle was a 2003 Porsche Boxster S borrowed form
Mr. Dave Howey. The Boxster S is equipped with the 3.2L-H6 engine.

The SUPER Stock intake system,
PN
55-10720 , comes complete with a roto-molded intake tube, high flow OE replacement
air filter, red urethane couplers and a complete hardware installation kit.
Installation is quick and easy, requiring 30 min or less to add 14hp and 10
ft-lbs of torque to your Boxster. Here is how the install went.
Safety first. Before you start your installation, make sure
the engine has properly cooled down and the negative terminal on the battery is
disconnected in order to prevent any

electrical mishaps. With the engine ingeniously mounted
behind the seats, access to the engine was a real pain in the rear. However,
after a few minutes with the owners manual, we were able to gain access the
engine. Now we were ready for the installation. Adrian started by removing the
two hose clamps on the intake tube. The intake tube was then removed. The
air filter has a sliding tray that simply opens for air filter access. We simply
took out the restrictive paper air filter and replaced it with the new high
flow, high performance replacement air filter. The red couplers and clamps are
placed on the new rotationally molded intake tube. The tube is placed in and the
hose clamps are secured. Ater replacing the engine covers, the installation is
complete. Now we're off to the Dyno!

With the Boxster strapped to the Mustang Dyno, the wheels
start to turn. Right away the sweet flat six sings that oh-so-addicting
engine note. Once the rollers stopped we were treated to 14hp and 10
ft-lbs of torque! Wheel spin is now a common occurrence. the intake system really gives the
Boxster a kick right in the sweet spot. A few sprints later we

gave the keys back to the owner for his impression. Ever
since installing the intake kit, he spends more time in his car than in the
office. With a great power increase like this, it seems aFe has hit a bull's-eye
with the Boxster kit. If you own a Porsche this is definitely a must have for
the Boxster.
